He began his drawing studies at the Colégio Bom Jesus de Curitiba in 1912. From 1922 to 1927, he took painting classes with Alfredo Andersen, a time when he spent time with Estanislau Traple and Waldemar Curt Freyesleben. In 1927, he won a scholarship from the State of Paraná and went to Italy to study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. He returned to Curitiba in 1936. Between 1960 and 1970, he taught drawing and painting at the Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná, where he was also director. He received the title of Honorary Citizen of Curitiba in 1981 and the Honorary Commendation of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 1983. He died in Curitiba in 1990.
